The Simon Pele project is a proposed collaboration between the Simon Pele Community, Habitat for Humanity, BMPAD and Architecture for Humanity. As part of Habitat for Humanity's mission to build back stronger and safer communities in Cite Soleil, Architecture for Humanity will develop a Community Action Plan based on the Integrated Neighborhood Approach.
The Integrated Neighborhood Approach builds on the existing urban fabric and the community's ability to organize themselves towards a common vision. The principle of this strategy is that the communities improve their neighborhoods in collaboration with local authorities with technical and financial assistance from international and local partners.
Through this approach, Architecture for Humanity will facilitate the development of a Preliminary Master Planning document focusing on a series of recommendations for key infrastructure projects pertaining to Accessibility and Watershed Management.
