Now,slide the used shipping containers into your structural grids. You have a beautiful and efficient apartment building. I did not invent this idea. The great architect Corbusier did in 1920.

Here in Option 1 is an example to insert the cheap used shipping containers between the concrete slabs like the great architect Le Corbusier suggested in 1920, or simply stacking them on top of each other as you like.Find a site in Delmas busy street with the containers upstairs as housing and ground floor for livelihood commercial development.Just as you have indicated that two required stairs are required for fire exit at each end of the four story walk ups. With a single or double loaded corridors for the apartments, you could achieve the flexibilty and the privacy from 0-bedroom to 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom instantly by turning the door keys. with the introduction of the elevators, if desired, the building could go up as high as you like and the situation allowed.....Here we go again. The options are plentiful. The job of we designers is to choose the best solution to fit the project.Enjoy the journey.
In Delmas, for example,a walk up apartment building with the used shipping container stacking up on top of each other, with no additional structure needed, ins and outs, rainbow colors for the tropical climate can be fun? Above all It costs only $2,000 for one container, very cheap indeed.. "draw a book 22".GEORGE WU, AIA 伍榮基 美国註册建築師
You cannot get it cheaper than $2,000 for one container to build housing with.
stacking the containers on top of each other, you have housing. How can anyone do it cheaper than that?! for details, please see my latest post. George Wu. AIA 2011-11-29
