Location: There are 4 fishing floating villages in the World Heritage site: Ba Hang, Cua Van, Vung Vieng and Cap La with a total of 287 households and 1,283 people of which Cua Van is the largest.
Cua Van is located at Hung Thang Commune, Halong City, 20km away from the tourist boat wharf, the fishing village lies in a calm bay surrounded by mountain. Cua Van Village has a population of 733 in 176 households.
Actual state: Cua-Van is becoming a Tourist Attraction. It is interesting to see the rambunctious children going to “school”. Their bustling calling and their flopping rowing liven up the atmosphere of the quite bay. Looking at the small boats driven by tiny oars going to school, and the radiant faces of the children, one feels confident in a bright future for the fishing village.
However, the existing floating school named Cua Van is being downgraded and the condition is not good enough for children to study:
? Only 2 classrooms for all of children in class 1 to class 5
? Lack of natural light and energy power
? Children have to bear the polluted air made by waste matter from adjacent WC dropped directly to the sea
Proposal:
New classroom design have to:
? Solve all above problem
? be a module easily to connect with the existing floating school
? Use cheap and popular materials
2. Solutions:
Achitecture:
? Roof had a gutter in the centre to collecting rain water,
? Light is collected through the wall and from the lighting line along the centre of the roof
Structure:
? Made by iron frame and corrugated plastic
- light weight
? Float by recycled emty oil drum
Environment ? Use movable septic box to recycle the waste matter from WC
Energy:
? Save energy by optimize using natural light

Comments

"? Lack of natural light and energy power
? Children have to bear the polluted air made by waste matter from adjacent WC dropped directly to the sea " : solution again biogas as in my previous comment -
It is up to the design-team to either prefer the plastic version like
http://www.theplastiki.com/ or the version with local grown materials (bamboo)
