For the homeless, having a place to store your stuff is a first step toward regaining a normal life. When applying for a job or going to work you carrying all your belongings just increases the difficulty.
By creating places to store their belongings the homeless can begin to reintegrate into society.
Architecture for Humanity, along w/ AIA Minnesota created this modular design for wide distribution. We will be building a prototype this summer. Let us know your thoughts. Improve our designs.

I am interested in a project like this in my community. We have a tremendous need on the streets here in Aberdeen, Washington. Thanks.
On September 12, 2008, AFH MN held a fundraiser for their first design-build project, the Twin Cities Homeless Locker Project, to address the needs of homeless individuals to have a secure storage location for personal belongings that they can access as needed. The event at the Bedlam Theatre raised over $3500 to build lockers in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Phase I of the Locker Project was completed in the Fall of 2008 when AFH MN built 20 lockers for Simpson Housing in Minneapolis. Phase II will be completed in the Spring of 2010 when AFH MSP (new name as of 2010), builds lockers for The Family Place in St. Paul.
We would like to thank all of the volunteers and organizations that have given their time and money to make this project successful!
