2048_Football for Hope: Cape Town

A stadium enclosure is provided by the grandstand and community meeting rooms on one side of the pitch and the health clinic on the other. The pitch is the focal point of all activities.

To extend the design into the landscape and to define the boundary of the soccer pitch, a row of colorful ceremonial “walking sticks” of splayed salinga gum tree-poles will be aligned in marching rows. These walking sticks may also be understood to mimic the activity of many legs “kicking” and will provide an obstacle course for practice in dribbling a ball.
