PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Bio Resource Centre showcases the ecosystems of the Coramandal coast. PBRC has created numerous programs where they work alongside with women self help groups, farmers, and children/students to restore ecosystems whether it be forest, wetland or farms. Sometime groups of visitors to the Bio Resource center, particularly children, stay overnight to do night safaris, sleeping on mats in the Bio Resource Centre amongst the exhibits of local crafts and seed collections. Realizing the need of better accommodation facilities, an “Ecodorm” was conceptualized .The ecodorm can cater for groups of up to 20 children sleeping over in a large room that can be meeting / activity room in the day and a dormitory at night. Three more large rooms upstairs can accommodate visiting staff / teachers / volunteers. Toilet / bathrooms and kitchen dining area are also included. The building is being built with concrete framework, and bricks infill. The building shell construction is 80% complete.
