The company announced last week that it has reached an agreement with Arch Aluminum & Glass to use clear plastic cells of Konkan in building materials, including windows. The company has already built a prototype in which transparent solar cells inserted between two glass plates. Photovoltaic cells can be painted in different colors.

Konarka also manufactures organic solar cells made of flexible plastic. Last fall, opened a factory in Massachusetts to produce these cells.

The advantage of these flexible cells is that they can be used in many applications, since it can be adapted to almost anything.
