Woodsmans Wagon / Eco tourism Wagon

Overviewteamupdatesworkspacecalendarfiles

This project started with the loss of 2 people my adoptive mother and a close friend. This allowed me to buy woodland in Cornwall to develop my sustainable woodland management business. To do this i needed a tow in wagon that would be independent of grid electrics, super insulated and capable of being used as a show stand to demonstrate ecobuild to the wider public. it had to be built using readily available timber locally sawmilled in Dorset UK. A joiner friend of mine offered to run fresh sawn Western Red Cedar planks through his 4 sided planer, this material was rebated to make lap panels which were screwed onto a breathing wall construction applied to a stressed skin structure forming the body of the wagon ontop of a Douglas Fir chassis, the roof is corrugated iron (because i like it)but could be copper or zinc.On completing the initial build we took it to a countryside fair to test its transportability the reaction to it suggests it could be very desirable as an eco-tourism unit which could be used in conjunction with yurts to build eco-tourism hubs and storage for the yurts out of season.
