The Project uses the existing path from the parking to the Beach to avoid further disruption of the vegetation and the natural conditions of the place, it also continues the tradition of this path, the project rises from the ground with columns to keep people on the path and to avoid new path being generated illegally, eventually the nature in the place will reclaim these illegal trail and will be filled with vegetation again.
The trail has a slight slope from the parking lot to the train tracks, the crossing of the tracks is above the railroad, from there a constant slope of 8.3% lead you to the Beach at ground level.
The path is generated by the repetition of 7 modules that vary from each other in height to generate shadows and viewing areas, the shape of the modules uses the formal concept of the waves, were a single surface rises and turns to generate the some covered and shaded areas, the modules are a steel structure with a wood planks skin to make a walking surface that doesn’t get too hot during summer or extended sun exposure, and if damaged it can be replaced easily.
The different modules have different accessories, in the lower ones a handrail is incorporated for safety, the modules that let the light and rain go through, have a series of pots to have local vegetation incorporated into the new trail, in the taller modules that generate shaded areas, benches are incorporated and function as rest areas.
Along the trail there are several viewing spots were the landscape can be admired, but there's also a viewing area oriented to the ocean which allows people to see the conditions of the beach and the waves.
At the end of the trail a separate volume that rises from the ground with columns has the bathrooms, drinking fountains and showers for the use of the people who visit and surf Trestles.
The project plays with the waves concept and also with the repetition of the modules, different heights, the succession of shadow and sun areas and it never closes completely to preserve the outdoors conditions of the trail, also tries to have le least impact to the place with prefabricated structures with dry joints to minimize the waste during the construction and use of the project.
