Seed Nursery

Overviewteamupdatesworkspacecalendarfiles

The project is a small seed nursery located on a farm that will raise citrus and soil-fixing tree seedlings for farmers around Beit Jala.

Half of the building is made from recycled bottles collected from bars in the Bethlehem area. These bottle walls are built on the top of existing concrete walls. The building abuts a rock wall that contains a storage cave for the farm.

The seed nursery will also contain a bathroom, oven and shower for the farmers on whose land the seed nursery in built. Water from the showers and sink is filtered then stored in a central pond for irrigation purposes. The pond also keeps the nursery humid and serves as a heat sink for incoming sunlight while the oven's exhaust pipe travels along the south and east wall to provide heat.
