Building Tomorrow is an international non-profit organization working to empower young people by raising funds and awareness to build and support educational infrastructure projects for vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa.
Notre Dame's School of Architecture teamed up with Building Tomorrow in a special way. Students not only raised funds for the academy along with generous sponsors, architecture majors created the actual design of the school - turning a service project into a unique learning opportunity as well.
While working under the constrains of an extremely economical design, the students were able to capitalize on local building materials and regional climatic features to create not only an affordable and functional school but also a comfortable and vibrant place of learning.
