School assessments and renovations are further demonstration of J/P HRO's commitment to the Delmas 32 and 40B neighborhoods, from which the majority of Petionville Club camp residents come. As amenities are relocated from the camp, focus is placed on keeping existing schools up and running while improving them, which solidifies the community.

Project summary

An existing two-story confined masonry school requires a second-floor renovation to add a classroom and provide an earthquake-resistant and weathertight enclosure for the school (and church). New walls and roof configuration will maintain natural light and cross ventilation from two directions in the classroom while improving the learning environment for 40 additional students.

École Mixte Bethesda will act as a pilot project for J/P HRO's school assessment and repair initiative. The project is currently under construction.

Beneficiaries

Elementary school students in the Delmas 32 neighborhood.
