This project was a collaboration between the NGO Haiti Outreach and students of IIT. http://mypages.iit.edu/~haiti/ The challenge was to design and build a school that could expand over time. Students from the school in Haiti were asked how they would like their school to develop to accommodate more children. Haiti Outreach http://www.haitioutreach.org/community-development2/whole-community-conc... received a promise from the Ministry of Education that if a school was provided with a school board to maintain it they would supply the teachers. What is presented here is the process of Design, Testing and Construction and some valuable lessons learned in the process.

How can we expect to yield a consistent mix recipe on our concrete if we continue to mix materials on the ground.
I believe that we can provide a better solution. We are asking the Haitians to live under concrete roofs that we would never dream of creating in the industrialized world. WE SHOULD AND CAN DO BETTER...
