PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Oakland Food Connection (OFC) is a non-profit organization specializing in food justice in East Oakland communities. AFH Scope: OFC is a growing organization that will be looking to expand its venture of becoming a community kitchen that supports the East Oakland Community through nutrition classes, catering services, as well as preparing food for farmers markets and other community events.

OFC’s 260sqft kitchen in its current state will not allow for the expected increase in capacity form the organizations projected growth. AFH has been tasked with aiding OFC in designing an alternative to the kitchen by renovating its current space to better support the expected uses of the kitchen.

The scope of this project will be to develop a design proposal illustrating a newly renovated kitchen that better serves the needs of OFC. The proposal will be used to solicit investors as well as other supportive groups in aiding OFC locate funding, a private design firm, and a contractor to renovate the community kitchen. Due to the timeline provided by the current AFH project leader, the scope of this project will not be providing construction documentation. The final deliverable will be a hard copy packet of the design selected by the AFH team and Jason Harvey, OFC. Electronic copies of the design as well as perspective images will also be submitted to help OFC in future marketing and solicitation of OFCs community kitchen.
