Looks interesting. We did a project designing an ecolodge in NW Zambia, which was very interesting. (not uploaded yet though) Cannot stress enough to really listen to the needs of the locals and be inspired by the forms and material that are there. To build it, if its gonna be sustainable, you need to be able to find the materials locally. Aswell I can just say that building straight lines as it appears on the sketches are not commonly used there, or am I wrong? And not such an easy thing to do, 90 degrees I am if you're not used to it.
As a landscape architect I also hope that you really listen to the landscape, aestethically and functionally, and look beyond the building, many buildings in Africa blend into the nature beautifully.
Good luck!!!

Erik,
The clinic project is going very slow. The sponsoring organizationis getting organized and we've realigned our efforts to a school project in Tanzania. We are expecting a late summer start on construction of the school. It will be in a more developed area not as remote as the Ubwari Clinic. I appreciate your post and advice.
Sincerely,
This project looks very artistic & has a real beautiful design.
It looks like a resort more than being a medical center.
Great job guys & wish you all the best
Hi
My concern is about the Ubwari Medical Center. Im from Ubwari(Peninsula into Lake Tanganyika in Eastern Congo). the Architecture for Humanity and 50 Lantern teaming with local hearlth care and rural development agencies to design and construct a hospital to serve the returning refugees in the area. The project were going start from March 20/2007. As from march 20/2007 to march 20/2011 is been 4 years but we never see even one stone of the beginning of the project(***sad***).My question is when the project will start?. As the geographic situation of the peninsula, The woman are giving birth in the boat when they are travelling other side of the lake where they can get the maternity.... the children's death rate is high because there is no clinic or hospital in the area...Im requesting for the Architecture for humanity and Rural Integration Development Program for Africa to follow up and investigate about my concern.
Thanks.
