Geotourism Lodge for KALLARI - Ecuador

Overviewteamupdatesworkspacecalendarfiles

The design concept was derived for the notion of the Cacao pod. The Geotourism Lodge design encompassing a few pod-like facilities strategically places on the site to create a sense of community while also providing each unit with privacy. The placement of each Pod-Lodge will minimize the disturbance of existing ecology hence providing a sustainable and environmental approach for these addiitions. The Pod- Lodge will connect with the Factory and Visitor center as part of the overall experience through bridges and walkways meandering through the site. Solar panels are also incorporated into the design to generate power for each Pod-Lodge.

Similar to the concept developed for the factory, the roof overhangs to provide shade to the units. The roof slopes inwards to channel the collection of rainwater down to a cistern below grade while maintaining the concept of outward reaching gesture connecting to the landscape.
