temporary shelter, yes, but extremely resilient- earthquake resistant, hurricane resistant, and tsunami resistant. Add to that its natural intrusion resistance, its insect, ground based pest resistance, it is indeed a worthy shelter. Cheap to build, and utilizing local, tropical materials (bamboo), it can be owner built, and last a very long time.
