The first two parts of the foundation have been poured. Because of a lack of form work and concrete they are running behind on schedule. YF has promised new concrete is on its way and will be on site next Monday, the 6th of May. The lack of form work will be solved when an other YCF project is finished and the form work of that site will be transferred to the site of Mod'Ayiti. According to YF this will happen at the end of next week.
Today they started pouring concrete of the foundation. Last week they have set up the mold for the first part of the foundation. Friday they will continue with a second part of the foundation.
The work permit is arranged. After a 4 day delay the work has restarted on Monday April 1. The rest of the week they have been working on digging the tranches for the foundation and the footings of the columns have been poured in concrete.
Today the police has stopped the work on site, because YCF is not yet having an official work permit.
YCF has all the document necessary to get the permit, and hopes to be able to get the permit tomorrow. (March 27)
Gravel has arrived on site, besides that no other new materials. (as they had promised) This week they are working on digging the trenches like last week.
The soil has been inspected. (see soil report) They soil looks good. With the building that they are going to build the trenches need to be (at least) 1.20m deep.
Pouring of the foundation will start end of this week/beginning of next week.
The foundation is planned to be ready by the end of April. The rubble/back-fill removal will be done around the same time.
YCS has started with the foundation on site.
YCS has been to the city hall of Delmas to get a construction permit.
To get this document they need:
- Titre de propriété enregistré
- Acte d'arpentage enregistré
from the landlord.
AfH asked Maguy to arrange this information with the landlord.
There are still two generators on site.
AfH asked, in the name of YCF, Maguy to arrange with the landlord to have them removed before the end of the month.
After some questions from CHAPE the design has been changed.
A new design has been made.
Is it approved and signed by CHAPE?
New design has been presented by YCF and approved by CHAPE (Maguy) and AfH (Kate Evarts)
11.Dec.12
The YCF team, Andrea Pazzolini, Elizabeth Lafontant, Yves Francois, presented the schematic design plans for the project. The revised design provides the same m2 areas as the earlier versions, and nicely meets the needs of the project.
18. Dec .12
YCF presented the revised final schematic design plans. The client signed off on the plans. The demo of the damaged parts of the existing building will be demolished to prepare the site for the new work.
30 jan .13
YCF and AFH and Client meet at the site to view the remains of the existing building to set a plan of action going forward. We agree the existing building construction doesn't look as good as we first expected. From now on we will meet every two weeks until construction starts in full.
next meeting: in the week after Carnival

They had caught up some time on the foundation, but are still behind on schedule.
The main problems are lack of materials on site and not enough plywood to build ahead. YCF is aware of the problem and tells us they will do something about it, but so far nothing has happened.
