Design Rationale
:
Cultural Responsiveness - lifestyle, site characteristics, construction methods and materials
Two dominant features throughout the design of buildings are central courtyard and covered veranda, not only as an respond to their cultural aspect, but were considered in conjunction with phasing of the project, which individual element can be added/expand as project goes and adjustability in alignment with contours to minimize manipulation of the site.
All buildings share a basic tectonic language within the campus and to its surrounding. They are derived from local buildings but taking it a step further with improved structural stability, natural lighting and ventilation. This approach is proved to be cost effective and increase the efficiency of local labors by adapting to their construction methods and materials.
