As a furniture maker I lacked a place to work after we bought a house in the suburbs of Albuquerque. As all my projects have tight budgets I began collecting materials as salvaged or inexpensive off the shelf items in the spring of 2005.
A year later, working on weekends I completed the structure for around $20 sf.
Recycled items used in structure included;
Operable window (seen in interior shot) was salvaged from an office sample room.
Tongue and groove pine used for front facade and flooring was slated for the landfill.
Mis-measured window given to me. The slope of roof was based on slope of window.
Aluminum clerestory windows were bartered in exchange for production of demo construction documents for the owner of a commercial storefront.
