Centre de Reconstruction, Port-au-Prince, Haïti

Overviewteamupdatesworkspacecalendarfiles

The Haiti Rebuilding Center run by Architecture for Humanity works on long-term reconstruction projects in Haiti and coordinates the work with professionals, educational institutions and other organizations. The Rebuilding Center is a one-stop shop for design and construction services, professional training, consumer awareness, professional referrals and construction bid opportunities. Our long-term reconstruction plan outlines how the Center will transfer to local Haitian ownership and operation within five years.

The Rebuilding Center hosts a monthly meet n greet to encourage dialogue between the building trades and cultivate partnerships towards the future of Haiti. To learn more on our work, visit the project pages linked below, follow our updates and Twitter @afh_haiti.

AREAS OF FOCUS

  • Haiti School Initiative
The Haiti School Initiative is a grant-based program supporting the design and construction of 10 primary and secondary schools throughout Haiti. Designs emphasize hurricane and earthquake-resistant construction, localized passive cooling techniques and materials, participatory design and economic development. The initiative is largely supported by Students Rebuild, a program coordinating the philanthropic efforts of the world's youth.

  • Reconstruction of SMEs
The Rebuilding Center supports the long term recovery of small and medium enterprises by pursuing the reconstruction of economic corridors.
The program will influence the professional and private lives of 30,000 people and contribute to economic development of Haiti by helping, over the span of three years, more than 5,000 Haitians get back into work.
