ARCHIMETRICS -- New Knowledge Basis for Construction

The "Archimetric" structure system is the result of my independent inquiry into a way of constructing and thinking about our surroundings that simulates the underlying helical form in Nature's architecture. This is accomplished by structurally simulating the natural forms of a system of molecule-thin liquid membranes (soap films), which exhibit helical edges, using flat, twistable structural elements. The resulting system of field-like forms with helical edges range from a plane to a line perpendicular to the plane, the Archimetric Field Elements in the photo.

The fabrication of one of the family of Archimetric Field Elements (actually one-quarter of the element)is shown in the photos and used in constructing the pictured Shelter and House Model.

The initial goal of this project is to spread the new knowledge of how to fabricate and make architectural models with the pictured Archimetric architectural element. I have produced an article called "Making Archimetric Models", and will e-mail it to anyone interested. E-mail address: lacanova@valornet.com

Bamboo strips are the ideal material for full scale production.
