Jack in the Rock

The design I made helps prevent flooding in houses and is perfect for the intertidal zone. This structure starts with a stone shell and has boat like siding and bottom on the inside (my picture doesn't show this). The stone guards against weather that could wear down the sides like crashing waves. When water reaches the stone, the water is allowed to go under the stone shell lifting the inside home as the water rises pushing the house up on top of the water. There are four large cables that anchor the house in place above the shell so that the house doesn't float away if it rises far above the stone shell. When the water goes down the house goes back into the shell with the help of the cables. You get into the house through the roof because if it was in the shell you couldn't get out if the house is floating or not inline with the inside shell. You also park your car on the roof using a ramp so that it is pretected from the water too. The green on the top is grass, the windows are sealed shut plexiglass that can get wet. This is for a person in Seattle. My structure could save some lives or injuries. This has been a fun project. I couldn't get the model in but I used it for thinking about my idea.
