My structure is composed of 4 ‘blocks’ on a floating platform, and provides ‘micro-homes’, a store and a small museum.
The first ‘block’ is the Beacon Tower: general store, the Discovery Bistro and space for a lighthouse if necessary. This is the only structure higher than the Sitka Spruce.
The second and third ‘blocks’ are residential. Both of those ‘blocks’ have two ‘micro-homes’ each. One of these has a very small balcony facing onto the Puget Sound.
The fourth ‘block’ houses the Puget Sound Museum. An interactive display explains the history of the area, from the American Indian tribes and the arrival of the Europeans to environmental awareness, shipping and the ex-Army fort. Fish and other marine creatures can also be viewed from the glass walkway.
A ferry stop has also been included.
I designed it so that it is shrouded by the existing conifers around it. Seating around it makes it easier to see the surrounding area’s beauty. The lighthouse peeps out above the landscape, announcing that it’s here.
It is supported by large pontoons, and alloys and glass make up its structure.
It would gather energy from seawater, as salt is an energy conductor.
I can’t pick an interesting part of the structure, it’s all fascinating!
