Square footage of addition increased to allow for more interior space

Roof line adjusted to allow for easier construction (flashing or stand alone construction can both be accommodated with this scheme.)

A separate entrance for the addition, allows for a secure space for the library and potential computer centre.

Entrance to the addition better defined and ventilation improved

Trellis added to create shaded areas and connect the new addition to the existing spaces

Latrines situated against street wall to allow for septic tank installation and removal through a locked opening

Adapted amphitheater idea (based on scheme B) to the new site plan, as well as the spray-on chalk boards (to be provided by Architecture for Humanity)

Note:

We based the new latrine design on the assumption that we would now be using a septic system. We can adapt this as we learn more about the site and the requirements.

The support posts for the trellis will likely need to be set in concrete to prevent erosion during wet seasons.

The new addition is close to the wall. We’ll have to look into the setback issues. We’ve left a passageway of 1 meter between the new addition and the street wall.
