Second Year Design Studio run by the University of Auckland School of Architecture; this design studio explored various alternatives of social housing in New Zealand. This particular project deals with integration of commercial spaces with residential; architecture with the landscape; revitalization of an underutilized stream with the township. The buildings fold in and out of the landscape to create complexity yet on closer look they are simple and standardized as to make it economically viable for the client. This project demonstrates that the future of social housing need not compromise beauty nor its surroundings.
