When we first considered the use of a thrown away mattress we felt it wsas important to always have a look back at the way the materials had been used in their prime. We decided to keep the interaction between the new object and the body but with a fresh new idea. Since we are Chinese and looked about our own environment for a meaningful re-use, we came upon the idea of making acupressure pads activated by body contact. In the first use, these materials carried someone through part of their day and part of their life. In the second use, these materials will also be supportive of the person but in a more active way- pressuring back to invigorate intead of lull.
