MUKURU KWA NJENGA 2.0, one describes as 2.0, the interfaces which make it possible to the net surfers to interact on the content of the Web pages and between then. Will of Sidarec and AMD is to create an interface between the inhabitants of Mukuru Kwa Njenga and the rest of the world.
Our project, MUKURU KWA NJENGA 2.0, is at the same time a place of local and international exchange. This is why we introduced objectives directly touching the everyday life of the inhabitants but also of the more total concepts like that of the durable development.
The architecture of this center must as much reflect the culture of the district that its projection towards a certain modernity. Our party, with the sight of the local and world context, was to recover the maximum of elements already present on the site in order to reorganize them withim this piece in a more fonctional and userfriendly way.
In more of re-using the existing matter, a part of the constructive elements were thought manufactured and to be inpleninted by the them-same inhabitants.
It results from this recovery several concepts finding echo in MUKURU KWA NJENGA 2.0:
- an economy adapted to SIDAREC which will allow a better management of its center. Because the new materials inplenented are in less great quantity. The maintenance casts are also lowered since the roughs-casting could be carried out by the users who will have only change the panels of cobs used by other panels before hand manufactured.
- an ecology applied because the quantity of gray energy necessary to the rontong of new matrials is found some reduced, materials recovered being by definition already on the spot: ground extracted at the time of the building site being used to make the panels of cob and the current container being diverted and being embedded in the market. Moreover, the solar panels located on the roof of the latter will produce a part of energy necessary to the operation of the center.
- a place of sociability because on the scale of the center, we preserved and even constant the dispersion of the fonctions on the whole of piece with an ain of finding an ease of use, a small village with its place, its landscape and its diversity.
The participation activates members of association and users, at the time of constructions ans exploitation of will reinforce the appropriation of the place and cohesion around a joint project. On the scale of the district, it is an image of dynamism and respectful crativity of existing and the environment which we included in this proposal.
